if you’re like me then you’re probably not very active and have trouble overeating in the summer since there’s so much time to be lazy, so here are a few things I’ve learned that have helped me keep losing weight
- get a job
not only will you be making money and getting out of the house for a few hours, but most jobs require you to be on your feet for the majority of the time so you’ll be more active
- hydrate
this one is annoying because the first thing everyone always says when it comes to losing weight is to drink water, but when it’s hot out your body requires more water! also fruits like watermelon are almost all water, healthy, and low calorie, so eat those too
- find a hobby/obsession
ik this is easier said than done when food is constantly on your mind, but if you can find an activity that really excites and grabs you, you’ll forget about food. I’ve always been good at drawing so this summer I started making animations which are tedious and occupy the mind so I’ll go hours without eating while I’m making them. if you can find something that you enjoy like that, chances are you won’t think about food for awhile while you’re doing it.
- iced coffee
my biggest savior this summer has been iced coffee because it curbs sugar cravings, fills you up, and cools you down. add one cup of unsweetened almond milk for 30 cals or another healthy milk alternative to make it creamier. if there’s a cumberland farms where you live, they sell large iced coffees for 99 cents.
- have something to look forward to
I find that having an event or reason to want to look good motivates me more to want to be skinny. otherwise, if you’re lounging around at home not having to be seen it’s easier to binge and let yourself go. that’s why I make sure I have a concert I want to look super hot for, or a trip where I know I’ll be in a bikini and having my picture taken, and consequently I’m more disciplined with myself. if you don’t have any plans this summer, think about how you want to look and feel good when you go back to school (or work if you have summers off).
- get out
go outside, get some vitamin d, and do something active. walk, bike, swim, play a sport, anything to get you moving. I hate working out so for me, doing something fun like that with friends is the best way to trick myself into being active. ik that’s hard to do sometimes when you’re depressed or just want to chill, but whenever I force myself, I never regret it.
